I’ve met more than a few teachers who have expressed concern about AI generated work. The concerns range widely. For example:

  • How can teachers win the inevitable cat and mouse game of AI enhanced cheating?
  • How will students learn when generating work is a prompt and a click of the mouse away?
  • How can their work be accurately assessed, if the teacher can’t even tell if the work is theirs?
  • Should I just give up at this point? (I’ve heard this one quite a number of times)
  • I’ll just close my eyes. If they cheat, they lose in life. (Not true, and a missed opportunity as I will elaborate further in this post.)

There are several points to consider with the advent of AI, and with all change, it may mean that we as educators bear the responsibility to embrace the change and make it work for us.
